The boxing promotion enterprise, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), co-founded by internet personality Jake Paul, has recruited rising actor and promising pugilist Javon "Wanna" Walton, as reported by MVP representatives to ESPN this Monday.
Walton, acclaimed for his role as Ashtray in HBO's Emmy-winning series "Euphoria," has an exceptional track record in amateur boxing, featuring over 80 contests, a string of junior amateur tournament triumphs, and five Georgia state championships. Competing in the 125-pound division, Walton has proven his mettle in the ring.
At a tender age of 17, Walton is the youngest talent to join MVP's ranks. Walton's prowess isn't limited to boxing or acting; he's also a social media sensation with an Instagram follower count exceeding 5 million and a cumulative social media following of more than 13 million.
MVP's blueprint includes Walton's professional boxing debut scheduled for 2024. The company, co-founded by Paul and ex-UFC chief financial officer Nakisa Bidarian, will offer Walton guidance as he concludes his amateur career and assist in developing his brand, crafting content, and marketing endeavors, according to officials.
In Walton's own words, "MVP feels like family, and that's very important to me. I know they can help me reach my goals in professional boxing and do it in a way that feels special to me."
MVP will officially introduce Walton on August 2 at the open workouts for the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz bout in Dallas. He will be training alongside boxing titans including Paul, Amanda Serrano, Ashton Sylve, and Shadasia Green, all signed with MVP. Walton's future bouts will be featured on MVP events, including its Most Valuable Prospects series, under the mentorship of his father and coach, DJ.
DJ sees this alliance as an "incredible opportunity" to create a significant buzz around Walton's entry into professional boxing, noting that Nakisa and Jake's revolutionary impact on boxing promotions is inspiring.
Besides making his mark in Hollywood and on social media, Walton is quickly gaining fame in the sporting world. The Atlanta native became the youngest signee of Nike's esteemed Jordan Brand last November. A former two-time Junior Olympics national silver medalist in boxing and a decorated gymnast acknowledged by USA Gymnastics, Walton is truly a multi-talented athlete.
Paul and Bidarian believe that Walton's unique blend of talents, his committed fanbase, and his potential as a professional fighter place him in a position to redefine combat sports in the upcoming decade. They eagerly anticipate the greatness Walton is poised to reveal under the MVP banner.
Paul's forthcoming fight against Diaz, scheduled for August 5 in Dallas, will also feature Serrano, Sylve, and Green on the undercard.
