Edy Ramiro Valencia Mercado, the boxing sensation hailing from Sinaloa, Mexico, is currently in a critical condition, battling for his life after being admitted to a hospital in Ontario, California. Valencia encountered severe injuries during his bout against George Acosta this past Friday.
As per the details provided by Thompson Boxing Promotions, Valencia fell victim to a technical knockout in the sixth round of the fight.
Following the boxing match, Valencia was rushed to the hospital and is now reported to be in a precarious state due to the extensive injuries he sustained.
This incident occurred amidst Valencia's fourth fight in a span of four months, a rigorous schedule that significantly impacted the boxer's physical wellbeing.
"TBP is profoundly distressed to share that pugilist Edy Valencia is battling for his life in an Ontario hospital after his fight against G. Acosta. We firmly believe in the power of collective support and strength, and together, we hope to see Edy make a recovery from this ordeal," stated the boxing promotion company.
Veteran promoter Lou DiBella, who recently collaborated with Valencia for one of his events, expressed his shock and concern.

The bout between Edy Valencia and George Acosta was Valencia's third encounter in the United States in 2023. Moreover, he had another match this year in Guasave, Mexico.
